What data Userback collects through the feedback widget, for use in your own privacy disclosures.

Use this content to add information about Userback to your own privacy pages. If needed, consult your legal team or a legal professional before publishing it.

How Userback collects data

This web application or site uses Userback, a feedback widget provided by Userback Pty. Ltd.

Userback uses a mix of cookies and localStorage, depending on how it's being used:

  • When a Userback customer (a workspace member) is logged into Userback, cookies remember data like configuration settings, views, reports, and last-viewed feedback items.

  • When the feedback widget is installed on a site and a feedback reporter (an end user) submits feedback publicly, no cookies are used. Instead, localStorage caches configuration settings for the widget, including any email address entered, and identifies the reporter on their next visit.

Information Userback stores

Depending on how it's used, Userback stores:

  • Email address (if specified)

  • Name (if specified)

  • Device type and browser version

  • Screen resolution, screen size, and color depth

  • IP address (can be deactivated)

  • Time of visit

  • URL

  • Geographical location, based on IP address (can be deactivated)

  • User-identified data, configured by code by the customer

  • A DOM representation of the user, to capture a screenshot and annotations (if activated)

  • A DOM representation of user activity, for session replay (if activated)

  • Browser console logs (if activated)

  • Browser network requests (if activated)

  • Any fields and attachments defined in the widget

Userback uses this information to add context to feedback, for managing, analyzing, and reporting on feedback items. By using this web application or site, you consent to Userback processing data about you in the way and for the purposes described above.
