How to Import Feature Requests into Your Ideas Portal

How to prepare a CSV of existing feature requests and import it into your Ideas Portal, including limits and date formats.

Written by Jon

Before you import

  • Start small. Import five rows first and check the result before importing everything.

  • Check your dates. Use yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss, yyyy-mm-dd, or mm/dd/yyyy. Wrong date formats are the most common reason rows are skipped.

  • Stay under the row limit. Each import can have up to 4,000 rows, or 1,000 on a trial. Split bigger files and import them separately.

  • Create categories and statuses first. The import doesn't create them. Rows with no status are set to Open, and rows with no category are imported without one.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave some columns out?

Yes. Choose Skip in the dropdown above any column you don't want imported.

What happens if some rows fail?

Userback imports the rows that are formatted correctly and gives you a download link for the rows it skipped. Check their date format first.

Can I undo an import?

Yes. On the Feedback page, filter by Source: CSV Upload, select all the results, and delete them.
