Publish Feedback to Your Ideas Portal

How to make an idea public on your Ideas Portal, automatically or one at a time, and how voters hear when it ships.

Written by Jon

Only feedback with the type Idea appears on your Ideas Portal and roadmap. You choose whether new ideas are published as soon as they arrive or wait for you to review them.

Publish automatically

  1. Open Portal Settings and go to the General tab.

  2. Under Moderation, turn on the sources you want to publish from automatically: Ideas Portal, or Widget, Browser Extension & Email.

Publishing automatically gives you less control over what's public. Leave a channel off if ideas from it might include private details or need tidying first.

Publish one idea at a time

Use any of these:

  • From the feedback details: Open the feedback item. Set Type to Idea, then set Portal Visibility to Yes.

  • From the list or board: Click the ··· menu on the item and select Publish. If the item isn't an Idea yet, it's changed to an Idea when it's published.

  • In bulk from Portal Settings: When unpublished ideas exist, the General tab shows a prompt to publish them all. Click Yes, publish.

Once an idea is published, you can comment on it, edit it, and change its status from Userback or from the portal.

Unpublish an idea

  • In Userback, click the ··· menu on the item and select Unpublish, or set Portal Visibility to No.

  • On the portal, open the idea and click the Unpublish icon on the left edge of the idea panel.

Tell voters when an idea ships

When you move an idea to Resolved, Userback prompts you to email everyone who voted for it. Preview the email, then send it. This closes the loop with your most engaged customers without writing to each one.
