Translate Your Widget, Surveys, and Ideas Portal

How to change the display language of your feedback widget, and how to customize the text visitors see on your Ideas Portal.

Written by Jon

Userback's feedback tools serve visitors in more than one language, but "translation" means something a little different in each place: the widget has a language setting, while the Ideas Portal lets you rewrite specific pieces of on-screen text.

Widget language

Go to Feedback > Settings > Widget > Design > More, and use the Language dropdown to set the display language for your feedback widget's form and button text.

Widget languages give you a quick way to translate all text on the feedback widget. You can customize all text on the feedback widget so if the translation is not perfect for your use case, you can modify it as needed.

Ideas Portal translation

The Ideas Portal has its own Translation tab, separate from the widget's Language dropdown. Go to your Ideas Portal's Portal Settings, then the Translation tab. From there you can edit the text shown on the New Idea form:

  • Heading

  • Description

  • Title placeholder text

  • Summary placeholder text

  • Submit Idea button text

  • Thank you message

This is text customization rather than a language switch: you're rewriting the strings shown, in whatever language and tone you choose, not selecting from a preset list of languages the way the widget's Language dropdown works.

Surveys

Since surveys are typically more dynamic and custom based on the questions you are asking, surveys do not have a dedicated translation option. You will need to customize the text for each question and associated answers in the desired language.
