User properties are the details you send to Userback about each logged-in user. The more useful details you send, the more precisely you can target widgets and surveys and filter results.
Built-in properties
User ID: your own unique ID for the user. Required to identify someone.
Name: shown on their feedback and profile.
Email: used to recognize the user and to contact them about their feedback.
Custom properties
Send any other detail that matters to your business.
Common examples:
plan, such as Free, Pro, or Enterprisecompanyoraccountaccount_idaccount_type, such as trial or paidrole, such as admin or memberaddressor region
Custom properties appear in Userback with the exact names you send, so pick clear, consistent names and use the same ones everywhere.
How to send properties
Your developer adds properties to the identification code. For example:
Userback.identify('USR123', {
name: 'Jane Doe',
email: 'jane@yourapp.com',
plan: 'Pro',
account_id: 456785
});See How to Identify Users for the full setup.
Where properties show up
Segments: every property can be used as a condition when you create a segment. See Users and Creating Segments.
User profiles: in the Properties section of the Overview tab. See View a User's Profile.
Feedback: in the User Data section of each feedback item.
Survey responses: as a User Property filter.
Replays: as a User Property filter. See Browse and Filter Session Replays.
If a property is missing
If a property doesn't appear in segments or profiles, it isn't being sent. Check the identification code runs on every page where users are logged in, and that the property is included.
