Keep your feedback organized and accessible by learning how to set up new projects and manage existing ones effectively.

Creating Projects

Create separate projects to efficiently manage feedback for different teams, client projects, or web pages.

  1. Navigate to the Project page in Userback and click the "New Project" button in the top right corner.

  2. Choose between a Feedback Widget or a Survey, and then select 'Start from scratch' or pick from our templates.

  3. Configure your project settings, add team members, and enable notifications.

  4. Set up your feedback collection method by installing Userback in your application or using the browser extension.

Copying Projects

An easy way to create new projects is to copy an existing project and its settings.

πŸ“˜Note: Not all project settings can be copied and you will need to update some of the settings.

  1. On the Projects page, locate the project you wish to copy, Click the ellipsis menu, and select 'Duplicate'.

  2. Click 'Yes, Copy'

  3. Update the following in your new project:

    • Project Settings: Change the project name, description, URL, domains, basic authentication, and categories.

    • Project Access: Add or restrict members access to the new project.

    • Notifications: Set notifications for yourself and your members.

    • Integrations: Add any integrations needed for this project.

Move Feedback between Projects

In Userback, you have the flexibility to move feedback between projects, ensuring that it reaches the right team members and lands in the right place.

  1. Find the feedback you want to move and click the three dots icon next to it.

  2. Select "Move" from the dropdown.

  3. In the Move Feedback window, choose the new project, assignee, and set the feedback's status.

  4. Double-check your choices and click "Move Feedback".

πŸ“˜Note: You can only move feedback to projects you have access to.

Archive, Restore, or Delete Projects

Archive your projects to declutter your workspace or delete them if your project is no longer needed.

  1. On the Projects page, locate the project, Click the ellipsis menu, and select one of the following options:

    Archive a project

Select Archive, then confirm the prompts.

    Restore a project

Select Restore, then confirm the prompts.

    Delete a project
Select Delete, then confirm the prompts.

  2. Click 'Yes' to save.

Restricting Member Access from Projects

If you have multiple members managing different projects, you can set up restrictions to grant users access only to the projects they oversee, keeping them out of those they don’t manage.

  1. Navigate to the Members Tab from the left menu.

  2. Locate the user for whom you want to restrict access.

  3. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) next to their name and choose "Manage Roles and Access."

  4. Use the drop-down selection to select or unselect project access.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The Admin Role will automatically have access to all Projects, this cannot be turned off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will my Integrations work once a Project is archived?

A: No. Integrations will gracefully pause the moment a Project is archived.

Q; Will my Feedback Portal work once a Project is archived?

A: No. Archiving will take your Feedback Portal offline, if you need it again just restore the Project to bring it back.

Q: Do I get a reminder before an archived Project is deleted?

A: Of course! We'll send you an email 30 days beforehand, we've even added a countdown to the Project tile for good measure.

Q: Can I restore or recover a Deleted project?

A: Deleting a project is permanent, and deleted projects can't be restored. If you're no longer using a project, you can use the Archive option and restore it later if needed.

Q: Why am I getting an error when trying to Archive, Restore or Delete projects?

A: Solo Plan users will need to upgrade to Archive, Restore or Delete projects. If you'd like to change your active Project, contact us at support@userback.io.

Q: Who can move feedback between projects?

A: Only users with Collaborator and Admin access or higher can move feedback between projects. This restriction ensures that sensitive feedback remains within authorized hands.

Q: What happens to my Feedback URL, Screenshot URL and Attachment URL

A: When you move feedback to a new project, the share URL associated with the feedback will change. This change occurs because the share URL contains the project ID. The Screenshot URL and Attachment URL will also change, this can affect email notifications and integrations that source Userback for screenshots and other assets.

Q: What happens to Integrations?

A: If integrations are enabled in the receiving project, any automation rules that are in place will still apply to the transferred feedback. This means that feedback moved to a project with active integrations and automatic settings will continue to be sent to those integrations.

Q: What happens to Merged Feedback?

A: In cases where feedback has been merged with other items, you will have the option to move all the merged feedback at once. This feature simplifies the process of transferring related feedback in bulk.
